A NEW HOME FOR MY PODCAST

I’ve made the leap to a new podcast network and it’s a great one. We’ve teamed up with Nerdist, the multifaceted company founded by entrepreneurial stand-up comic and TV host Chris Hardwick. I’m joined by my trusty sidekick (and daughter) Jessie, who’s cohosted previous episodes with me. Our first guests are Roseanne Barr, the always-outspoken comedienne, and Eric Weinrib, whose adventures with the likes of Ken Kesey and Hunter S. Thompson (and ten years working with Michael Moore) made him an ideal director and collaborator for their documentary Roseanne for President!, now available on VOD. You can listen to our conversation HERE.

My podcast has evolved in a number of ways since it began in 2014. It now features a wide array of guests, whom I always ask to recommend unsung and underrated films they especially like.

New episodes will be posted on Fridays and you can subscribe for free HERE. Our first 84 shows, including the original ones I did with my partner Baron Vaughn, are still available on iTunes, also for free. Browse the list and I think you’ll find topics and people that will pique your interest.

Jessie and I will be recording a “live” episode this Friday at the San Diego Comic-Con. If you’re at Petco Park at 4pm come by and watch me with Doug Benson of Doug Loves Movies.

I will always be grateful to the folks at Earwolf for giving me my start in the podcast world. I got to work with many terrific people there.

Now, in the immortal words of Jackie Gleason, “…and away we go!”

Leonard Maltin is one of the world’s most respected film critics and historians. He is best known for his widely-used reference work Leonard Maltin’s Movie Guide and its companion volume Leonard Maltin’s Classic Movie Guide, now in its third edition, as well as his thirty-year run on television’s Entertainment Tonight. He teaches at the USC School of Cinematic Arts and appears regularly on Reelz Channel and Turner Classic Movies. His books include The 151 Best Movies You’ve Never Seen, Of Mice and Magic: A History of American Animated Cartoons, The Great Movie Comedians, The Disney Films, The Art of the Cinematographer, Movie Comedy Teams, The Great American Broadcast, and Leonard Maltin’s Movie Encyclopedia. He served two terms as President of the Los Angeles Film Critics Association, is a voting member of the National Film Registry, and was appointed by the Librarian of Congress to sit on the Board of Directors of the National Film Preservation Foundation. He hosted and co-produced the popular Walt Disney Treasures DVD series and has appeared on innumerable television programs and documentaries. He has been the recipient of awards from the American Society of Cinematographers, the Telluride Film Festival, Anthology Film Archives, and San Diego’s Comic-Con International. Perhaps the pinnacle of his career was his appearance in a now-classic episode of South Park. (Or was it Carmela consulting his Movie Guide on an episode of The Sopranos?) He holds court at leonardmaltin.com. Follow him on Twitter and Facebook; you can also listen to him on his weekly podcast: Maltin on Movies. — [Artwork by Drew Friedman]
